| Quote: | | "The teaching lineup for Gage's "Avengers Academy" was revealed, including Tigra, Justice, Quicksilver, The Wasp (Hank Pym) and Speedball, of whom Gage said, "It's not monkey Speedball!" The writer added "He's trying to move past the horrible things he's been through as Penance, but he's going to find out it's not as easy as changing clothes." In fact, all of the heroes on the teaching team are facing down their past, from Quicksilver's Brotherhood of Evil mutants membership to Justice having killed his own father. Singh added that the goal for the Avengers line in the Heroic Age is so the company can say "every single book as a unique identity." |
All I can say is: thank goodness YOU-KNOW-WHO is being laid to rest. Welcome back!

Oh, I did a most unladylike *SQUEE* right then.
*edit*
I almost didn't mind Penance under Gage's writing. |

| I disliked Penance because he was a symbol of CIVIL WAR... a cross over I strongly disliked for a great many of reasons... |

I just picked up Avengers Academy #1, and it seems good so far on the NW front. Justice and Speedy are in fine form, and smartly Gage is doing more than just turning a switch and magically switching Robbie back to Speedball. Looks like our favourite bouncing bundle of kinetic energy still has some issues to work out. _________________ "We saved the world. We undid this great wrong.. I've not been a fan thus far of Avengers Academy #1 (as I vocalized overly so on the New Warriors eGroups list) - and I still pick it up. But I do admit - I like how he handles Speedball. It's actually perfect. Now if I could only give a rat's ass about the new characters he's introduced... |

Heh, that's one of my problems too. I loved the new characters created over in Initiative and now they're in limbo mostly. I don't want to invest in this bunch of whiners only for them to disappear later on. Or is that harsh? |

.....Not really, since that's what happens sometimes with new characters that the readers are introduced within a series with such a strong history as the Avengers does.....
But I'm certain that in time, these newest ones will be just a part of the MU as has the previous ones were (without being sent into the MU "Limbo", i mean )
And BTW, I believe that Mr. Gage mentioned a few times that some of the former recruits (from the INITIATIVE Series) will be eventually seen sooner or later (in fact, there's an upcoming appearance with one of them in a story within AGE OF HEROES #4). _________________ PaxHouse |

For me I just don't care for the characters. The only one I care for is the one who turns to gas. The others just seem so... blah. They each seem to have too much attitude for me to care about them. I dislike the characters more than I like them. |

Unlike Young Allies I'm enjoying the way they are handling the old NW characters and the first person perspective of the new kids makes it a more interesting read because we see there views of the characters i already like.
Am I the only one that really really dislikes Tigra? |

I was really interested to see what they would do about her pregnancy, but it sort of got written off. Maybe we'll see more soon. It's hard imagining a litter of Cat-Skrull babies going unused in the Marvel U. _________________ "We saved the world. We undid this great wrong.. You might've missed it. The pregnancy wasn't written off, she had one baby boy (William?) off panel at the beginning of Dark Reign before she even met with Osborne, she introduced him to the rest of the team in the last issue of Initiative. |

Well the latest issue turned things around and gives me hope...
As for Tigra, what do you dislike? |
