History: James Sharp began his career as a medical student before being used by Genetech in their research for creating superhuman beings. When James Sharp’s body was mutated, he gained the ability to manipulate a person’s metabolic process. He adopted the name Coronary and became a part of Psionex, where he would battle the New Warriors early on.

During the battle against the New Warriors, he was picked up by Namorita. Reacting by inflicting pain through her stomach, she unwillingly dropped Coronary, whose glass-like body shattered upon impact.

This would not be the end of Coronary, however, as he would later pull his body back together. This also dramatically increased his powers, as he gained absolute control over his molecular structure, allowing his body to ‘phrase’ through solid objects.

During the events of Civil War, Coronary was forced to register with the Superhuman Registration Act and joined the Thunderbolt Army. During this time, he was a member of the Beta Squad, where he was joined by Folding Circle members; Bloodstrike and Smiling Tiger; as well as his former Psionex teammate, Pretty Persuasion, and finally also Texas Twister.

Coronary, along with the rest of Psionex – with what appears to be the original Asylum among them – joined the Initiative, and became the Maryland team.

Powers: Coronary has the power to cause extreme amounts of pain by psionically manipulating a person’s metabolic processes. Since the evolution of his powers, Coronary can now use them to affect his own body. As a result, he can phase through solid matter or stretch his limbs over great distances by altering his body’s density and pliability.

Note: Coronary’s body is composed of a glass like material, that can be shattered. Interesting to note that when he was originally shattered during a battle with the New Warriors, he was able to pull his body back together and become more powerful, since he was able to control the molecules of his body.
