The issue opens with Franklin having a dream of Frankie Raye (who, during this time was being called Nova; but we will refer to her as Frankie Ray to avoid any confusion) serving Galactus and searching for a planet for him to consume. She finds planet after planet that somehow has been drained of all life, proving useless to Galactus. She realizes the consumption of these planets is a straight line pointing directly to Earth.
Franklin awakes and tells his parents, Reed and Sue Richards (of the Fantastic Four), but they can find no proof that Earth is in danger. Franklin goes to his room and calls for the Smartship Friday and is taken to the Power’s home. Alex wakes up and finds that he seems to be suffering from hair loss.
On a distant planet, Frankie Raye finds a young Elan (a type of alien) who seems to be suffering; it’s the first she’s found in the rash of drained planets. But any questions she had are put aside as a large, lizard like creature calling itself The Star-Stalker demands to know what she’s doing. (For more on the Star-Stalker, see Avengers #124). Frankie Raye tries to fight Star-Stalker, but the creature begins to absorb her energy.
Aboard the Smartship Friday, Franklin leads the team to the same planet Frankie Raye is on and they find the same alien, partially buried from Frankie Raye’s battle with the Star-Stalker. Alex continues to see hair loss, but also finds he’s able to heal the alien by himself, without the need of the others. They leave together and find Frankie Raye just as she’s defeated by Star-Stalker. After siphoning her energy, he lays down and Jack uses his energy power to overload Star-Stalker; and when the creature suddenly vanishes, Power Pack celebrates; but Friday tells them that the creature is headed straight for Earth.
