Nova #20 (V6)

Sam, as Nova, along side with Rocket Raccoon from the Guardians of the Galaxy, had tracked down Admomox on Oblitus; a space station pieced together abandoned space vessels. It was there that Adomox had poised both Nova and Rocket and forced them to work for him – with the idea of reprogramming Sam’s Nova Helmet so that Adomox could use it. On a distant alien planet, Sam found himself fighting off robotic Nova Guardians, while Rocket was in the medical area of Quainbo, trying to find a cure for the poison that Adomox had used on them.

On the planet, after dealing with the robotic Nova Guards, Sam manages to find and gain entrance to the secret Black Helm Nova Base. A hologram welcomes Sam as his father, Jesse Alexander. It asks Sam if it should update the Service Logs – and Sam realizes that all of his father’s actions were accessible. Sam returned and got Rocket, and the two handed over the “reprogrammed” Black Nova Helmet. As Adomox put it on, it shocked him and knocked him to the floor. Sam explained that the hologram had all of his father’s records on there; including how his father had tricked Adomox into thinking he had killed that Nova Corpsman. Adomox hisses that, that very action is what got him kicked out of the Nova Corps. Adomox shoots Sam in the shoulder and makes a break for it; Sam grabs a laser and tries to shoot Adomox in return, but misses and hits Adomox’s safe, destroying all of his money. They corner Adomox who then says he has no cure for the poison that’s killing Sam and Rocket. That’s when they bring in another friend – Cosmo, the telepathic Russian dog. Cosmo reads Adomox’s mind and gets him to turn over the cure. That’s when Sam notices his father is on one of the monitors – fighting in the lethal Chitauri Gladiator ring. Rocket gets the remaining money that Adomox owes him, and he, Sam and Cosmo leave. Rocket and Cosmo head for Knowhere, while Sam heads home to take care of some business.
