History: Alex Tennyson had been a manager at the Mushrooms Occult Supplier store, and as an avid student of the occult, Alex Tennyson aspired to be as powerful as other mystics, such as Doctor Strange or Baron Mordo, whom he had studied quiet a bit on. However, this obsession with the occult and the power he craved would end up being the destruction of his marriage. With his frustrations mounting, Alex took his aggression out on his wife, Elaine, and began to beat her. This aggression was witnessed by his young son, Adam, and Alex realized that he couldn’t be bound by these “mortal chains” and moved out to focus on the occult.
He believed his luck had changed when Philippe Bazin died, and knew that Philippe was an avid collector of mystical artifacts and he had hopes that he could access his treasure trove of artifacts and gain some power. When he saw Harley Stevens use the Object of Power and get transformed on the news, he knew he had to confront Harley Stevens and take the Object of Power for himself. Harley had been defeated by Darkhawk and Ghost Rider teaming together, and the Object of Power was seemingly lost and never recovered.
During this time, Elaine, his wife, divorced him and took their son, Adam with them. She married a man by the name of Craig Blenholt, and won custody of Adam completely, since Alex Tennyson never showed up in court; he’d been too obsessed with the idea of finding this lost Object of Power and began putting up flyers to see if anyone had found it. This would yield results as a man named Chester contacted Alex Tennyson, having found the Object of Power after the battle. Alex offered three thousand dollars for it, but Chester wanted more, so Alex murdered Chester accidentally, as he took the Object of Power.
That had not been his intention, he’d been overcome with his desire for the Object of Power, and feeling extremely guilty, he called his son Adam to explain that he would make amends very soon; but it was Elaine’s new husband, Craig who had answered the phone, telling Alex that neither Adam, nor Elaine, ever want to hear from him again. This pushed Alex over the edge as he experimented with the Object of Power, finally unleashing the power inside and releasing Dreamkiller.
He then used the Dreamkiller aspect to go after Craig Blenholt, believing he was keeping Alex’s family from him. The Dreamkiller easily used its powers to bypass all of Craig’s security systems and tore the door apart, announcing himself as the “Shatterer of Hope, Destroyer of All That is Good and the Murderer of Wishes, Prayers and Love” – and explained that he would now kill Craig and his dreams – however, the noise had awakened Alex’s son, Adam, who entered the room to see what was going on. Alex, who could see through Dreamkiller’s eyes, saw Adam, apologized and forced Dreamkiller to retreat.
Dreamkiller soon came into conflict with the New York Police Department and SWAT, when Chris Powell recognized the Object of Power belt – and transformed into Darkhawk to confront Dreamkiller. By the time he had arrived, several police officers were already dead, and the fight against the Dreamkiller did not go well for Darkhawk, as he shrugged off every attack Darkhawk threw at him. Dreamkiller slammed Darkhawk to the ground, looked around, pleased with himself, simply vanished.
Pleased with the Object of Power, but still wanting more, Alex Tennyson called Allegra Bazin, the daughter of the now dead crime lord, Phillipe Bazin, and demanded to have all of the mystical relics that Phillipe had collected. Allegra mentioned to Chris Powell about this man named Alex Tennyson who was demanding all of her father’s mystical collection. This allowed Christopher Powell to research Alex Tennyson, and learned he worked at the Mushroom Occult store, where he confronted Alex as Darkhawk, demanding to know what Alex knew about the Dreamkiller. Alex responded by releasing Dreamkiller, which brought the attention of the police who used tear gas, allowing Dreamkiller to grab Alex Tennyson and escape.
Dreamkiller and Alex Tennyson would go unseen for quite sometime, until Darkhawk and Dreamkiller collided again (by this point, Darkhawk and Chris Powell were two separate entitites). They collided through the roof of a store, where Darkhawk was able to use a gun he produced to shoot a water line and hit Dreamkiller with some exposed wires, electrocuting him and shocking him into unconsciousness, where he was rapidly captured by Vault Guardsmen and be captured.
However, he would not remain captured long. As the Vault Guardsmen were transporting Dreamkiller, a being known as Damek the Earth-Shaker freed Dreamkiller, who reluctantly decided to work with Damek to avenge his defeat by Darkhawk. This brought the attention of Darkhawk back on them – and during the fight, Dreamkiller captured Chris Powell and said he would kill him if Darkhawk didn’t surrender. Dreamkiller was surprisingly blasted by Damek the Earth-Shaker, and Damek revealed that Dreamkiller was an ancestor of his and had been hailed a hero, but all Damek saw out of him was hatred and rage, and so he teamed up with Darkhawk to put an end to Dreamkiller.
When Dreamkiller was defeated, Alex Tennyson revealed himself and tried to escape, but had been captured by Darkhawk’s grappling hook and in the process dropped the Object of Power. Darkhawk recovered it and handed it over to the police, telling them to lock it away.
Height: Alex Tennyson (5’1″), Dreamkiller (6’6″)
Weight: Alex Tennyson (123 lbs), Dreamkiller (400 lbs)
Eyes: Alex Tennyson (Brown), Dreamkiller (Red)
Hair: Alex Tennyson (Black), Dreamkiller (None)
Powers: Alex Tennyson possessed no powers. Using the Object of Power, in the Dreamkiller form, he could use astral projection injecting his personality into the form of the Dreamkiller, though they were two individual forms. Alex was able to direct, see, hear, and even feel whatever Dreamkiller experienced.
The Dreamkiller existed in an incorporeal form, allowing him to pass through solid matter at will, and move across the air as if weightless. In his physical form he possessed superhuman strength sufficient enough to bend, smash, solid steel and lift several tons of concrete. His endurance allowed him to withstand full blasts from Darkhawk’s chest beams. He was able to project energy blasts of his own from his hands.
