The issue begins with Tyrone Johnson walking home, where he’s greeted by his wife, Mary Ellen, and his young daughter. Life seems to be going well for Tyrone Johnson. He catches a ride with his best friend, who is mysteriously alive, and they talk about how his stuttering had almost cost him his life. At his job, where he is a mechanic, he sees a blond woman with short hair who resembles Tandy Bowen, which causes him to pause.

Speaking of Tandy, she and her stepfather, Phillip have walked into an armed robbery. The leader of the robbers jumps down, in a costume, introducing himself as the Crimson Daffodil, who is a mutant who uses his ability to manipulate empathy and pleasure centers of the brain, to make people docile and agreeable to the things he says.

In her hotel room, one of Renee Deladier’s associates tries to warn her that the assassin, Disciplinarian, hired by the Kingpin is coming after her; and that he has some ability to tamper with time; and it’s unknown if the power is natural or technological in nature. Renee summons the cloak which engulfs him and drains him of his life, before she dons the it and teleports away. Disciplinarian arrives too late, but does find her note about Tandy being seen frequently around the Holy Ghost Church.

At the bank, Rebecca “Rusty” Nales arrives and attempts a hostage negotiation; but ends up taken by the Crimson Daffodil and his men.

Back to Tyrone, he goes to pick up his daughter, and the blond woman he saw before that resembles Tandy is none other than his daughter’s teacher, Miss Krebs. Not long after, at home, Tyrone is watching Wheel of Fortune and sees “Vanna White” and she appears to look like Tandy, even wearing earrings that resemble her light daggers.
