The issue begins with a white, humanoid horse alien flying his ship, Friday, finding themselves under attack by a humanoid lizard alien species known as Snarks. The humanoid horse alien, named Alefyre Whitemane is a member of the alien race known as Kymellian. Alefyre comments to Friday that Doctor Power has discovered the “Annilation Effect.”
The scene changes to the home of Doctor Power; better known as James Power. Inside his house, Jack Power his youngest son is watching television, while his eldest son, Alex is tampering with his telescope. His oldest daughter, Julie is reading and doing dishes, while the youngest daughter, and youngest of all the children, Katie is looking outside. There’s a discussion that James Power isn’t exactly a fan of his boss, Mr. Carmody, who is rushing James’ latest discovery before proper testing has been completed.
The scene briefly cuts back to Alefyre and Friday, as their ship continues to be assaulted by the Snarks until it’s forced to do a crash landing. The fight is observed by Katie who tries to get everyone’s attention, but everyone dismisses her. The four kids sleep on their beach home balcony when Katies decides to look out into the ocean and sees an alien ship washed ashore. All four children run down to examine the ship and Alex immediately sends Jack and Julia to go get their father, while he and Katie watch over the ship. Alefyre appears and touches Alex and Katie, and the trip disappear just as a large Snark ship hovers over the Power household.
The Snarks immediately capture James and his wife, Margaret. Jack immediately tries to fight the Snarks but is captured and thrown into the air, but saved by Alefyre. Alefyre displays more powers but is forced to grab the Power children and teleport away when the Snarks begin to take off. Back at the ship, Friday, Alefyre explains that his people used the same thing their father discovered as a source of power, which – the first test – incinerated their entire planet, and had they not been a space faring race, they would be extinct. Alefyre learned that their father had discovered it, and the Snarks from them, and came to warn their father. The Snarks return to get the blue prints, and Alefyre apparently sacrifices himself – bestowing powers upon the four Power children. As the Power children are pulled into the Snark ship; Alex displays control over gravity; Julie is capable of flight at high speeds, emitting a rainbow trail behind her; Jack shows the ability to turn into a cloud like mist; and Katie emits a disintegrating touch, and goes as far as emitting balls of disintegration that she’s able to project from her body.
The Power children manage to defeat and escape the Snarks and return to Earth, where Alex takes up the name “Gee” (because he can control “g-force”), Julie takes up the name Lightspeed, Katie takes up the name The Energizer and Jack takes up the name Mass Master – and together, they call themselves Power Pack.
