Real Name: Gregory Bryan
Aliases: None
Identity: Public
Occupation: Professional Criminal
Citizenship: United States Citizen with a Criminal Record
Place of Birth: Unknown
Known Relatives: Unknown
Group Affiliation: Serpent Society, Serpent Solutions
First Appearance: Captain America #31 (2004)
History: Very little is known about Gregory Bryan’s life, before he became the replacement for the original Sidewinder. King Cobra, who was looking to bolster his membership again – and realized he needed someone to take on the role of Sidewinder, and have the technology Sidewinder possessed, used equipment that Serpent Society had stolen from Roxxon – the same equipment that had been used to create the technology that was used to create the original Sidewinder’s abilities.
Gregory Bryan filled the role of the newly created Sidewinder, possessing the same abilities as the original Sidewinder. King Cobra used him to help get the other members of the Serpent Society free of their prison cells to begin their life of crime once again.
Serpent Society, alongside the new Sidewinder, would seek revenge against Captain America as well as their former member, Diamondback (who at this time was a SHIELD LMD, life model decoy) – and during the battle, Sidewinder had been knocked out by this Diamondback LMD. Serpent Society, with Sidewinder would show up again, later in Ohio, but be defeated by the Nova Corps.
Sidewinder would show up with Serpent Society again, when they were in the thrall of trying to bring about the Serpent Tears and call upon Mephisto. He was, along with the rest of the Serpent Society/Solutions, defeated by the AVENG.E.R.S.
Height: 5’9″
Weight: 205 lbs
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Black (Shaved Bald)
Powers: Gregory himself, however, possesses no superhuman powers.
Armor: Sidewinder possesses a cloak (modelled after the original Sidewinder’s design) that was created with stolen Roxxon technology, which contains electronic circuitry that enables him to open an aperture into another dimension and step through, granting him the ability to “teleport” between locations. He is also able to teleport those whom the cloak is draped over. The teleportation distance appears to be limited to 50 miles in a single jump. His armor grants him protection from small firearms and he’s able to breathe underwater. It’s unclear if this Sidewinder is able to project energy from his forehead, similar to the original.
Note: There appears to have been three Sidewinders. The original (Seth Voelker, who retired), a second Sidewinder (who was unnamed and killed in action, while on a mission for Deathsting), and the third (and current, Sidewinder, Gregory Bryan).
