History: It’s unclear how or when Beatrix Keener adopted the name Coachwhip and it’s unclear if she has any physical powers, other than mastery of whips. She was one of the “serpent themed” villains employed by Viper (Madame Hydra) in an effort to infiltrate Serpent Society.
After successfully being recruited by the Serpent Society, she attacked her own teammates when Viper showed up, siding with Viper rather than Sidewinder. However, when Captain America appeared, after being called on by Diamondback, Viper was defeated, and Sidewinder declined the offer to return to Serpent Society, feeling betrayed. Cobra took up the mantle of leadership and changed his moniker to King Cobra. As King Cobra, he offered membership even to those whom had served Viper, and Coachwhip accepted his offer and remained with Serpent Society.
Coachwhip would later partner with Killer Shrike and Ringer (whom she and Killer Shrike, jokingly referred to as “Ringo”). Together, the three of them during a time known as the Acts of Vengeance, when villains were striking at heroes whom they’d never (or rarely fought), they attempted to take down Moon Knight. However, Moon Knight was able to defeat Coachwhip and Ringer, but Killer Shrike managed to escape, leaving his two “partners” behind.
When she would later rejoin the Serpent Society, during Diamondback’s trial among the members, Coachwhip had convinced many of the members that Diamondback should be killed, believing that while she’d been dating Captain America, she may have been providing him information about Serpent Society’s activities. It was also revealed, during this time, that she’d become romantically involved with King Cobra. However, they would not be able to fulfill their plan of murdering Diamondback, as Captain America was called upon to save her. During the fight, Coachwhip fought both Diamondback and Black Mamba, both of whom she’d developed a strong dislike for.
Coachwhip did a number of thigs, such as fighting Jack Flag’s partner, Free Spirit (who had defeated Coachwhip and disguised herself as Coachwhip to infiltrate the Serpent Society), she was also among the many villains who travled to Bagalia to join the Masters of Evil, before once again appearing back with Serpent Society.
Along with other members of Serpent Society, Coachwhip was hired by Constrictor (Payne’s son) to help steal Iron Fist’s Book of the Iron Fist. This brought them clashing with the likes of Iron Fist and Sabretooth, who had tracked them down. At the end of the fight, only Coachwhip and Iron Fist were conscious, and she revealed that she had no idea that it’d been Frank Payne’s son beneath the Constrictor outfit. He’d been poisoned, and Sabretooth rushed him to a hospital, which saved his life.
Coachwhip and Puff Adder were employed by Kingpin to bring down Spider-Woman, and after abducting her close friend, Lindsay McCabe, they found Spider-Woman too difficult to fight and fled the scene.
She, along with the rest of the Serpent Society would show up later, under the sway of Mephisto, and rapidly defeated by Nighthawk. Still later, still under the belief that Mephisto would grant them great power, they attempted an ancient ritual, which they had successfully completed, however, for reasons unknown (or simply because it’s Mephisto), Mephisto never surfaced and Serpent Society, under the new leadership of Pit Viper and rebranded as Serpent Solutions, was defeated by the newly formed AVENGE.R.S. and taken into custody.
