History: Blanche Sitznski began her life as a very strong, empowered woman, and quickly proved to the many men who doubted her that she was just as capable – if not more so – than many of the men who were also steelworkers.
She eventually took an interest in Taskmaster’s Academy for Criminals, and took up the role of the calisthenics instructor, responsible for training female criminals in hand-to-hand combat. Her reputation grew, and Blanche Sitznski was sought after and selected by executives in the Roxxon Oil Company to be a special covert operations agent. At the Mutagenics Lab of the Brand Corporation (a subsidiary of Roxxon), Blanche Sitznski underwent genetic mutation to possess permanent serpentine adaptations and even her appearance was altered as a result.
She adopted the codename Anaconda, and was shortly there after recruited into Sidewinder’s initial incarnation of the Serpent Squad, along with Black Mamba and Death Adder. Together, they were set out to find and recover the Serpent Crown for Roxxon president, Hugh Jones. During the attempt, the members of Serpent Squad came into conflict with Stingray, Thing and Triton and in the ensuing battle, Anaconda, Black Mamba and Death Adder were trapped underwater, while Sidewinder was able to get the crown and escape, abandoning his teammates.
When the trio did escape, they sought to get revenge against Sidewinder; however, he compensated all three of them for their part in the Serpent Crown recovery, and offered them a position in his newly formed Serpent Society, which would operate as assassins, but also offer true benefits, salary, and compensation. All three accepted Sidewinder’s offer and joined Serpent Society.
Anaconda, who had attempted to recruit Constrictor into the Serpent Society, soon discovered that Constrictor, who refused the offer, alerted the Avengers about their operation to steal an apparatus from the Brand Corporation. Cobra, Rattler, and Anaconda were ambushed by Captain America. During the battle, Cobra and Rattler were able to find the what they’d been looking for and Anaconda told them to flee with it while she kept Captain America busy. It’d been a long fight, but in the end, Captain America defeated Anaconda, but her companions had managed to escape. Anaconda was taken to prison, however, Sidewinder teleported inside of her prison and escaped with her. She then sought out Constrictor, knowing he’d been the one who tipped off Captain America, and had nearly beat him to death for his betrayal.
The Serpent Society was there hired by A.I.M. to find and kill M.O.D.O.K., which once again brought them into conflict with Captain America; however, Death Adder and Cottonmouth were able to complete the mission and kill M.O.D.O.K. while the others had been fighting with Captain America.
Princess Python who had fled during the fight, was captured by Serpent Society, and had her mind wiped of any knowledge of Serpent Society, to guard their secrets. Sidewinder commanded Death Adder to take the unconscious Princess Python back to the Circus of Crime. In transit, the saucer he’d been using malfunctioned and crashed. Death Adder grabbed some clothes and sought out a taxi to put Princess Python into, however, the driver happened to be Scourge, who shot and killed Death Adder. When news of Death Adder’s demise reached Serpent Society, Anaconda vowed she would find his murderer and kill him.
When Viper (Madame Hydra) overthrew Sidewinder, Anaconda was one of the members of Serpent Society who betrayed Sidewinder. She also became romantically involved with one of Viper’s recruits into her version of the Serpent Society, Puff Adder. Diamondback who helped rescue Sidewinder, came back with Captain America, Falcon, Demolition Man, and Nomad, came into conflict with Anaconda, but Diamondback was able to defeat her with one of her trick diamonds.
Sidewinder surrendered leadership and had no interest in returning to Serpent Society, so Cobra, now using the moniker of King Cobra became the new leader of the Serpent Society. Sometime later, Anaconda had been one of the members of Serpent Society to help ensure Diamondback’s date went well; however, what Anaconda did not know is that the date was with Steve Rogers, better known as Captain America. Anaconda was furious, believing that Diamondback was potentially giving Captain America information about them. Anaconda was one of the members who voted that Diamondback should be killed for her betrayal.
Anaconda, Diamondback, Black Mamba, and Asp were invited by M.O.D.A.M. to join Superia’s all female team of villains known as the Femizons. It was short lived, as she ended up having a disagreement with the female villain, Quicksand, and soon after Captain America and Paladin showed up and broke up the team, by capturing many of them, and the Femizons disbanded.
Anaconda would later join a band of mercenaries known as Six Pack, with the mutant Domino, G.W. Bridge, Hammer, Solo and Constrictor. They had been sent to find and capture Cable, but things had gone sideways and she put aside her differences and helped save the lives of those in danger on the island of Providence.
Anaconda would go on to have a brief conflict with a newly formed version of the New Warriors (consisting of mutants who had lost their powers after the events of “M-Day” and were using technology to simulate powers), where she was defeated and tied to a post for the local authorities to find and arrest. Even later, Anaconda temporarily served as a member of the Doom Maidens and battled the Defenders.
Anaconda would eventually rejoin Serpent Society, under the leadership of a new Viper (who now took on the name Pit Viper) and fell under the sway of Mephisto. They battled Nighthawk, who was able to defeat them. Anaconda was then sent to the prison known as the Raft, where she, Whirlwind, Quicksand, Piledriver, Griffin and Icemaster were all seemingly shot in the head and killed, but all five were revived and fought the Wasp as she was investigating the murders. Whirlwind, however, was possessed by Vic Shade, who helped Wasp during the fight. Raft officers soon arrived and helped subdue them, and placed all of the villains in solitary confinement.
Anaconda would be freed yet again, where she would once more rejoin Serpent Society, under Pit Viper’s leadership. Pit Viper believed that if they collected a relic and completed an ancient, dark ritual, that Mephisto would appear and bestow upon them great power. Despite having completed all the things that needed to be done, Mephisto never surfaced, and Serpent Solutions were defeated by the newly formed AVENGE.R.S. and taken into custody.
Height: 6’2″

Powers: As a result of bioengineering at the hands of the Roxxon Oil Company, Anaconda possesses a variety of superhuman attributes. For example, Anaconda’s arms are normally two feet in length from wrist to armpit and her legs are normally 35 inches in length from ankle to hipbone. However, the bioengineering process she underwent grants her the ability to elongate her limbs to one and a half times their normal length. When doing so, the muscle tissue of her limbs gorge with blood and swell to many times their normal size, thereby giving them the appearance of large snakes. Her limbs are capable of generating up to 125 pounds of pressure per square inch, which is enough force to deform a steel tube two feet in diameter and one inch thick. This process also granted her superhuman strength. Anyone caught in the constricting arms of Anaconda would require the ability to be capable of lifting 60 tons.
As a part of the mutagenetic engineering, Anaconda possesses gills gained through surgical placement that allow her to extract oxygen from the water to breathe. She is able to survive and breathe while underwater indefinitely, as well as on land. While in the water, she can swim up to 30 miles per hour.
She also possesses a powerful regenerative healing factor.
Note: naconda is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant. She typically prefers using street-fighting techniques while incorporating her ability to elongate her limbs.[50] Her favorite method is to simply ensnare an opponent in her limbs and constrict them until they lose consciousness or expire due to the immense pressure.
Weapons: The entire skeletal structure of Anaconda’s arms and legs has been replaced by artificial Adamantium alloy-based bones in the basic configuration of a snake’s bodily skeleton. While the alloy isn’t True Adamantium, it is virtually indestructible for all practical purposes.
