 Captain America #342 (1988)
History: Little is known about Marc Riemer’s history, prior to being recruited by Viper (Madame Hydra) to infiltrate Serpent Society, so that she could take it over from Sidewinder.

During his first mission, he was partnered with Cobra and Copperhead, as they poisoned the Washington D.C. water supply, turning those who consumed the water into humanoid snake-people. This brought them into conflict with Captain America, who easily defeated them, but Cobra had managed to escape.

When Viper was defeated by Captain America, Sidewinder had declined to return, and Cobra, now calling himself King Cobra, took over as the leader of Serpent Society, and offered a place for those who served Viper to remain in Serpent Society, which Boomslang accepted.

Boomslang’s next mission would not go well. He was sent to go spy on Diamondback, because she’d previously dated Captain America, and they’d believed she’d been giving information to him. He’d been spying from the roof when Captain America spotted him and confronted him. Fleeing from Captain America, Boomslang ran down an alleyway that was apparently turf of a local gang, and he’d been gunned down. Captain America arrived and defeated the gang. The gunfire had awakened others, who called the local police. Boomslang was rushed to the hospital and given a 50/50 chance of survival. The gang members, one of which was shot by a fellow gang member during the fight with Captain America on accident, arrived dead, while another in critical condition, all of them had warrants for their arrest for an assortment of crimes. Captain America was saddened and disgusted by their disregard of the value of life.

Boomslang would resurface, along with several other members from Serpent Society, at the A.I.M. Weapons Convention, where they fought Captain America (disguised as Crossbones), Falcon (disguised as Jack O’ Lantern) and Diamondback (disguised as Mother Night).

He would resurface again, this time with the new Viper (Jordan Dixon) who reformed Serpent Society, but branded it the team as Serpent Solutions. He later joined Helmut Zemo’s Army of Evil, before returning to Serpent Society once again, where he was hired by Constrictor (who is actually Frank Payne’s son, though they’d believed it was the original Constrictor) in an effort to steal Iron Fist’s Book of the Iron Fist. This brought him into conflict with Iron Fist, Sabretooth, Choshin and his henchmen.

Later, Boomslang and several other members of Serpent Society, attended a Criminal Technology expo, where they bumped into M.O.D.O.K. who nearly beat all of them to death. Cobra found their badly beaten bodies and alerted the other villains at the expo of the presence of M.O.D.O.K. and Iron Man.

In a private prison known as Myrmidon, Boomslang was forced to face off against Moon Knight, to which he quickly lost to.

Once again returning to Serpent Society, now Serpent Solutions, led by Jordan Dixon, who claimed the Viper moniker. Jordan, as the new leader, took up the handle of Pit Viper and recruited Boomslang, and many of the other members of Serpent Society who’d been a part of the team in the past. During an argument between Boomslang and Tiger Snake, it appeared that Boomslang was buried alive by Titanboa’s arrival, at the command of Pit Viper, however, Boomslang was seen alive a short time later with Serpent Solutions, during their final heist at Attania, in an effort to gather the relics needed to complete the ritual that would summon forth Mephisto.

Despite gathering all the relics, and completing the ritual, Mephisto did not appear, and Serpent Solution, who had been fighting the newly formed AVENGE.R.S. was defeated and brought before the courts to face justice for all of their crimes.
