Bolt debuted in 1995 today!

Once again, Corey of New Warriors Continuity Conundrum, with his incredible spread-sheet-calendar thing reminded us that today, the character Bolt, debuted in X-Men Unlimited (Volume One) #8 by Howard Mackie, Dan Lawlis, Tom Grummett, Adam Pollina, Ian Akin, Matt Webb & Comicraft’s Richard Starkings.

When Chris’ powers developed and manifested one day at school; that would already make things difficult enough in a world that despised and feared mutants; but Chris’ life would continue to take tragic turns as he discovered he was also infected with the Legacy Virus, a terminal virus that effected mutants and always proved to be fatal – at the conclusion, manifesting the mutant’s abilities to their maximum, and burning out their bodies.

Chris could have sat and waited for it to come; but instead he wanted to do something with his life and would join the New Warriors (during Volume Two).

Fortunately, with the sacrifice of Colossus from the X-Men, the Legacy Virus was cured before it claimed Christopher’s life. However, an old friend of his by the name of Maverick, who had previously taken him under his wing – had gone missing and presumed dead – so Bolt took on Maverick’s name to track down who had killed his friend. In a strange twist of fate, as Maverick, Christopher encountered “Agent Zero” – and was fatally wounded. As it would turn out, Agent Zero was the original Marverick. Chris died in Maverick’s arms explaining he’d taken on his mantle to make him proud.

Chris resurfaced once, during an event where he’d been infected by the Transmode Virus. While it’s not been confirmed, it’s assume that Chris may have been resurrected during the time of Krakoa. Read all about Bolt here on the site and check out Bolt’s profile on New Warriors Continuity Conundrum!
