New Warriors Dot Com

Steve Scott was the artist who worked with Jay Faerber in relaunching New Warriors Volume 2. While Volume 2 saw a number of different artists come and go, it had been Steve Scott who had been the artist for the initial launch of the series. Steve Scott recently shared on his facebook page, some scans of art that he had done that included his first work at Marvel – Wolverine #138 – but more importantly (and the reason for this post!) – his work on New Warriors Volume 2!

Wonder if I can poke Steve to share some of his other NEW WARRIORS art?

The legacy of the New Warriors is alive and well in 2013!

For starters, NEW WARRIORS OMNIBUS Vol.1 collecting the first 26 and a dozen crossover issues is due to be released. It is exceedingly expensive, but I’m going to try to scrape up enough to buy it somehow.

NOVA is getting an ongoing series! Unfortunately, its not Richard Rider, its written by Loeb, and the helmet makes me want to scream. But hey! Nova! With a Guardians of the Galaxy movie actually being made, the real Nova wont be far behind. Right?

And don’t forget AVENGERS ARENA, which features Darkhawk and 15 teenage potential Warriors, including: Anachronism, Apex, Bloodstone, Cammi (from Annihilation), Deathlocket, Hazmat and Mettle (from Avengers Academy), Nico and Chase (from Runaways), Kid Briton, Nara, Reptil (from Super Hero Squad), the kid from SENTINEL, and X-23 who is sadly going to outlive them all. The series is surprisingly good, and I recommend it.

YOUNG AVENGERS is ongoing again! Not strictly NW but certainly kin in spirit!

And for those that have missed it there is a SCARLET SPIDER book! Not Ben Reily but it’s actually Kaine!

I’m sure there’s even more that I’ve missed!

But first the daily Peter David Update: He was able with assistance to get up and sit in a chair where he spent most of the day. He worked with his various physical therapy and occupational therapy personnel on continuing to strengthen his arm and leg. The eye seems to be correcting itself a little but that’s going to be looked at in rehab as to what they can do besides a stylish eye-patch. He also revised an X-Factor script for his editor at Marvel, which I think made him feel good/more normal than he has been feeling.

Remember the waiting game? Well we MIGHT be moving him to his rehab facility but it is not a done deal because they don’t like some of the markers in various pieces of blood work. It may be an aberration and they are going to test him six ways from Sunday this morning to give us a go or no go on his going to rehab today. We have all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle in place except the Doctor’s OK to go.

Hard to believe that one week ago all this started.

Even though we have health insurance we have co-pays and the like. And since this stroke fell at the end of the year, we have all the new co-pays to deal with (I can honestly see those of you who have had to deal with this nodding your heads). And there are things that the insurance company just won’t cover (more head nodding). So we are at the beginning of what is going to be a very expensive year even though we are only 4 days in.

If you already have these or can’t purchase them for whatever reason, you can still help us a lot by getting word out all over the Internet about how they can help Peter. I am asking every blogger and people who have access to an audience to spread the word.

The more we sell of these books, the easier it will be for us to pay the bills as they start to pour in.

Buying his other books does help but that is very long term and isn’t much per books but it does help especially the Marvel graphic novels he has written.

I am talking to Glenn about a donate button or something but we don’t have the details worked out and I really want to get the ball rolling on getting this information out while Peter is fresh in everyone’s mind.

We do need your help to help him. He is working very hard at getting back to all that he loves to do and we are trying to ease his mind about whatever we can ease his mind about so he can do it faster.

We are now off to the Hospital to see what the verdict is about his moving today. I will update this when we know what is going on.

I remember it clearly. I was in the 4th Grade and my friend (still my friend to this day!), Charles Stevens handed me two comics. It was Avengers #159 and Uncanny X-Men #121. I remember reading them – and I remember opening them up and seeing characters with such wild and vibrant color costumes. All these characters had a wide variety of powers that were just amazing to me. And in both issues, it seemed pretty helpless for the heroes! In Avengers they were fighting someone who could control gravity – and in the X-Men they were fighting a team that was as skilled as the X-Men!

I was definitely hooked.

As the years progressed, my obsession – and collection – exploded in size. Over the years, my Marvel collection expanded from Uncanny X-Men, Avengers, to Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, New Mutants, Web of Spider-Man, Power Man & Iron Fist, Micronauts, ROM, Dazzler, and of course – New Warriors, Night Thrasher, Nova – among so many others. I now own thousands upon thousands of comics now. While, the current state of Marvel Comics isn’t my cup of Joe – I still collect comics. And I continue to go back and fill my collection backwards, to the point that I am now picking up comics that were released by Marvel – before I was even born. Marvel Comics became a staple in my life back then. It helped my imagination grow and expand and enter the world of Super Heroes. All of this is possible, because of people like Stan Lee who was one of the many powerful forces behind the birth of Marvel Comics.

So thank you Stan Lee for the gift you gave me. Your birth has been an endless source of gifts to me. And here I am, with the most that I can do – writing this little bit.
