ETERNALS

Celestials visiting Earth, over five million years ago preformed genetic experiments on proto-humanity, which resulted in two divergent races: The long lived Eternals, and the genetically unstable, and typically monstrously grotesque Deviants. These experiments were similar to the ones they also preformed on Kree and Skrull homeworlds as well, producing similar results.

The experiments not only resulted in the Eternals having extended life spans (originally not immortal; though that has seemingly changed), it also granted them super human intelligence, resulting in advancements in technology at a rapid pace. The down side to the experiments however, is that the Eternals have a very low birth rate (this is also partially blamed to their extended life). Eternals have bred with humans, but the end result is always a human child.

When a war broke out between the Eternals; one faction led by Kronos, the other by his warring brother, Uranos; it was Kronos’ side who won, forcing Uranos to flee, where they settled on Uranus. After some recovery time, they sought to return to Earth, but were attacked by a passing Kree ship, which forced them to crash land on Saturn’s moon, Titan. There, the Kree experiments on them; and hoping to discover more, ventured to Earth and experimented on the humans they found there, creating a deviant race known as the Inhumans.

Later, Krono’s experimental lab would explode, unleashing cosmic energy with catastrophic results – destroying the Eternal’s city, Titanos. The Eternals that were exposed to the cosmic energy suddenly discovered they wielded god-like powers. They merged into a single mind, known as the Uni-Mind to determine which of Krono’s son would rule – and Zuras was selected, which made A’lars leave Earth and settle on Titan.

On Titan, A’lars found it to be destroyed, except for one survivor – a woman named Sui-San, and together they repopulated Titan. The Titan Eternals were not as powerful as the Earth based Eternals, but had a long life span.

Zuras built Olympia in the mountains of Greece, and later built two additional cities (Polaria and Oceana). When the Celestials returned to Earth, the Deviants attacked, but it only resulted in the destruction of the City of Atlantis.

During the early 20th century, when the Celestials returned to judge their creations, Zuras feared the fate of the world, if the judgement was unfavorable. Thor and Odin battled the Celestials, as well as the Olympian gods; at which point the Eternals joined the fight as well.

Zuras, believing the Celestials were returning yet again, contacted High Evolutionary and warned him what would happen if the Earth was found unfavorable. High Evolutionary began slaughtering his creations; then went as far as evolving the Evolutionaries to hunt down and kill “genetic anomalies.” He even went as far as creating a “Gene-Bomb” – but was defeated, when Justice took on Zuras – and mentioned Genocide – forcing the rest of the Eternals to stop and question Zuras. Zuras provided a quick excuse and blasted High Evolutionary (apparently killing him; but he survived) and making a quick exit.
