History: At a very young age the mother of Cain Marko’s died leaving him to live a life of psychological and physical torment at the hands of his abusive father, Doctor Kurt Marko.  Doctor Marko would soon marry the widow of his fellow atomic researcher, Doctor Brian Xavier, Sharon and soon moved in with her and her young son, Charles Xavier.

Suffering both physical and mental abuse from his father, Cain saw that his step-brother, Charles, did not seem to suffer as he did – and that his own father seemed to care for Charles more than his own son. This consumed Cain with jealousy and fury, and led to him bullying Charles at every opportunity. Charles, unwittingly – with no control of his emerging telepathic mutant ability – probed Cain’s mind and learned about his abuse and jealousy. Cain was somehow aware of his mind being probed by Charles and believed it’d been done intentionally, and from that moment on, truly sealed Cain’s hatred of Charles.

During an argument with his father, Cain accidentally caused a fire to break out; and when his father chose to save Charles first, this only deepened Cain’s hatred of his step father; his father, however, would perish due to smoke inhalation.

Both Cain and Charles were drafted into the military and ironically served in the same unit. During their time in Asia, when they’d come under heavy fire, Cain fled the fight – and Charles pursued him – following him into a cave that was actually the temple of Cyttorak. It was there that Cain discovered the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak and upon touching him, changed him and he became Juggernaut. The cave collapsed and Charles believed Cain to be dead.

However, Cain survived and dug his way out and returned to the United States to exact revenge against Charles Xavier and discovered he’d created the mutant teen team known as The X-Men. He continued to battle the X-Men over the years, and would eventually form a partnership with Black Tom Cassidy.

During the Acts of Vengeance event, Juggernaut clashed with Thor – and during the fight the New Warriors made their debut and helped Thor defeat Juggernaut.

Juggernaut was teleported to an alternate reality called the Ultraverse, where he joined a team known as The Exiles. He eventually returned back and encountered the being known as Onslaught who defeated Juggernaut easily – trapping Cain within the Cyttorak gem. Cain was eventually freed and returned to his villainous ways.

Juggernaut would however, come to the X-Men to ask in helping with Tom Cassidy whose mutant powers were out of control. Juggernaut soon found he was welcomed among the X-Men after a young mutant named Sammy Pare saved his life, when Tom Cassidy had tried to kill Cain. Cain paid Sammy a visit in Canada and learned that Sammy’s father was abusive and in his rage, Juggernaut had accidentally hurt Sammy’s mother – and realizing what he’d done, surrendered willingly to Alpha Flight. When Rhino, who’d been in the same prison broke out – he also managed to free Juggernaut. But rather than flee, Juggernaut helped defeat the Rhino, saving the life of a prison guard. This led to Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) representing Cain and eventually developing a relationship. Sammy’s mother plead for Cain to get a reduced case and extracted back to the United States.

He would eventually go to England and join Excalibur briefly, before joining the Thunderbolts Program, under the leadership of Luke Cage.

Height: 9’5″
Weight: 1,900 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Red

Powers: Super Human Strength. The limits to Juggernaut’s strength remain unknown, as he’s been shown to be stronger than both Hulk and Thor at times. It’s speculated that the limit is based on the power being drawn from the Cyttorak gem. Despite his massive side, Juggernaut has also displayed superhuman speed, able to run up to 600 mph (though it’s unknown if this is the maximum speed he can attain). His invulnerability to physical damage is unparalleled, making him completely immune to any form of physical attack. While he can be hit, knocked down, thrown, etc., nothing that physically strikes him in any way does any damage to him. He is however, susceptible to mental and mystical attacks. The armor he wears, however, adds additional invulnerability – and the helmet protects him from telepathic attacks.
